Online Worship Service Sunday March 29, 2020
No services due to the coronavirus, but we gather together in spirit as a community of faith. Our thanks to Pastor Judy for recording her prayers, Scripture readings, and morning message, and to our technology folks for helping to pull everything together.from previous services so that we can continue to enjoy music during our worship experience.
The bulletin for the service is below if you want to follow and sing along with the hymns
Prayers, Scripture, Morning Message: Rev. Dr. Judith Scott
Organ Selections: Shirley Klein
Reflective Music: Central UCC Choir
PRELUDE “Adoro Devote” – Edmundson
Behold a miracle.
A valley full of dry bones is transformed into a people of love and life.
Behold a miracle.
The graves are opened. Death has lost its sting.
Come and worship the one who never forsakes us!
Let us worship the Lord.
HYMN: “In Christ There Is No East or West”
In Christ there is no east or west,
In Him no south or north,
But one great fellowship of love
Throughout the whole wide earth.
In Him shall true hearts everywhere
Their high communion find;
His service is the golden cord
Close binding all mankind.
Join hands, then brothers of the faith,
Whate’er your race may be.
Who serves my Father as a son,
Is surely kin to me.
In Christ now meet both east and west;
In Him meet south and north.
All Christly souls are one in Him
Throughout the whole wide earth. Amen
Lord of life, we come to you consumed by our worry and our pain. When we blame you for not being there in our need, forgive us. When we turn away from you in moments of loss, guide us back to your faithful arms. Teach us once more, Merciful One, that you weep when we weep, and rejoice as we find our way home. Amen
“Go Rest High On That Mountain”
– Vince Gill (arr. Tom Fettke & Thomas Grassi) – Bill Stine, baritone
Ezekiel 37:1-14
John 11:1-45
SERMON “Dry Bones” Rev. Dr. Judith Scott
HYMN: “Take My Life and Let It Be” (verses 1, 5, & 6)
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
OFFERTORY “Blessed Jesu” – Edmundson
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Holy God, in Christ you have chosen us to be your friends and to know your will in the world. Therefore we pray in Jesus’ name that these tithes and offerings spread your love near and far. Amen.
Blest be the tie that binds,
Our hearts in Christian love.
The fellowship of kindred minds,
Is like to that above.
POSTLUDE “Prelude in G Major” – Bach
